SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — RM5 million has been allocated to continue the Demand-Responsive Transit (DRT) van service next year, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said his office has identified 13 zones along the new LRT3 line in which the DRT will be focused.
“Two weeks ago, the Selangor State Executive Council approved a plan for the DRT vans focusing on the LRT3 network to ensure a more complete public transport service.
“The (contractor) appointment process is in the final stages and is set to be decided soon before this service starts in January,” he told Media Selangor.

Ng said the state government is working with Putrajaya to continue with Rapid KL, which provides on-demand services.
“This DRT service has been expanded to many areas, especially in cities, by Rapid KL. Nearly 300 Rapid KL vans are available in different zones.
“This shows a positive development in the cooperative bond between the state and federal governments in providing a better public transport service,” he added.
The Selangor Mobility DRT pilot programme was held from November 23 to July 2024 in eight zones statewide, but the service provider halted operations on March 14, while Trek Rides (another DRT provider) stopped operating on June 30.
The LRT3 is a 37km light rail line that covers western Klang Valley and not only shortens journeys, but is set to bring people and economic opportunities back to “forgotten” areas and catalyse development and local tourism.
The LRT3 links Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Klang with 26 stations, including nine in Klang (Bandar Baru Klang, Pasar Besar, Jalan Meru, Pasar Jawa, Taman Selatan, Sri Andalas, Klang Jaya, Bukit Tinggi and Johan Setia).
These stations connect to the royal city’s historic sites that still house traditional markets, old eateries, and houses of worship.
