SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB) has launched a high-tech recycling facility known as the Automatic Drive-Thru Recycling Center (Adtrec), an initiative to strengthen solid waste management and environmental sustainability in Selangor.
The automated collection centre integrates automation technology, digital systems and circular economy principles, enabling recycling to be carried out more conveniently and efficiently.
The launch marks a strategic collaboration between WHB and the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit (Upen), in support of the aspirations of the Selangor Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Master Plan (Pisppans).
The centre was officially launched by local government and tourism executive councillor Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, together with public health and environment executive councillor Jamaliah Jamaluddin, and Worldwide Holdings Berhad Group chief executive officer Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria on December 16.

According to Norazlina, Adtrec operates 24 hours a day without the need for permanent manpower, significantly improving operational efficiency while making it easier for the public — especially government staff — to practise recycling consistently.
“Adtrec is a testament to WHB’s commitment to sustainable development and our support for the Pisspans agenda. It also marks our first collaboration with the state government,” she said.
She added that Adtrec will be permanently located near Parking Entrance 3 at the Selangor State Secretariat (SUK) building.
The location allows government employees and visitors to participate in recycling activities at any time of day.
The initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for the expansion of smart recycling concepts at other strategic locations throughout Selangor.
