MBPJ provides RM15,000 cash aid for flood-affected staff members

SHAH ALAM, DEC 19 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has provided financial assistance to 30 of its employees affected by the recent floods.

RM15,000 was distributed through a one-off cash aid of RM500 to each recipient. The assistance was presented by Petaling Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon during a ceremony at the MBPJ Headquarters’ Operations Room.

"The initiative was a gesture of concern and solidarity towards its workforce, aimed at easing the financial burden faced by employees in the aftermath of the floods," it said in a media statement.

The flooding on November 17 affected 29 staff residing at the Inai Merah MBPJ Quarters, as well as one staff member from Klang. The disaster damaged personal property and disrupted the daily lives of those affected.

MBPJ added that it hopes the assistance would provide some relief and help affected staff recover, which is also in line with the council’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare and resilience of its “extended family”.
