CYBERJAYA, Dec 14 — The Selangor International Ride 2025 (SIR 2025), organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) at Cyber Valley, has attracted 1,000 participants, comprising local and international cyclists from Singapore, Germany, and Brazil.

The third edition of the cycling event introduces a new concept: a ‘fellowship ride’, marking a departure from the competitive racing format used in the previous two editions in 2023 and 2024. The new approach aims to strengthen ties among strategic partners, local communities, and the general public.

Cyber Valley Development general manager Mohd Shahrol Md Sharif said that although SIR 2025 does not adopt a racing concept, it serves as a platform for both local and international participants to test their abilities, showcase their skills and share cycling experiences with people from all walks of life.

“Starting from the PKNS Cyber Valley Sales Gallery, the participants were flagged off as early as 7.30am by Tengku Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Sepang Tengku Datuk Jamaluddin Tengku Mahmud Shah Al Haj, involving the 88km long-distance cycling (fellowship ride) and the 25km fun ride categories.

“The 88km ride took participants through Cyberjaya, Sepang, Kuala Langat, and Dengkil, and was also joined by PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas,” he said during a media conference on SIR 2025 today.

Also present were Bernam Jaya Development Unit senior project manager and SIR 2025 chairman Mohd Iswardy Mohamad Yunos, as well as PKNS Sales and Marketing general manager and SIR 2025 vice chairman Fadli Mohd Ariff.

On his part, Iswardy said the participants in SIR 2025 ranged in age from 12 to 77, with 40 per cent aged between 35 and 45.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), we will make this programme an annual event as it indirectly introduces the community to existing PKNS townships.

“If we continue to receive support from the state government, as well as our strategic partners and sponsors, we plan to make this an annual event and include it in the Selangor tourism calendar,” he said.

SIR 2025 also received support from sponsoring partners, including Worldwide Holdings Berhad, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Koperasi PKNS, and Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad, as well as government agencies like the Sepang Municipal Council, Kuala Langat Municipal Council, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Cyberjaya Hospital.

In addition to cycling activities, participants had the chance to win exclusive prizes through lucky draws, including a motorcycle as the main prize, along with other attractive prizes, while enjoying food stalls around the gallery.

SIR 2025 reflects PKNS’ commitment beyond its role as an organiser, positioning the corporation as a proactive development partner in empowering communities and strengthening Selangor’s standing as a preferred destination for living, investment, economic opportunities, and sports tourism.
