KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Selangor emphasises business-friendly principles to draw strategic investments, thus strengthening the state’s position as a destination for strategic, long-term ventures, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the initiatives aren’t new, but have been consistently implemented over the past few years through the 100-Day Approval Policy and Speed Selangor, which aim to expedite and facilitate investments in the state.
“Now, we’re focusing on transforming local authorities, especially by shortening approval periods from 3.5 months to 14 days for industrial projects in Selangor. Of course, we must settle land issues first.
Usually, there are two different issues — land, and local authority approvals. We solved land issues in 2020 through the 100-Day Approval Policy.
“From 2020, we shortened land approval periods to three months from six previously. In 2025, we improved it further, by facilitating business as a benchmark by introducing Speed Selangor,” Amirudin said at the groundbreaking ceremony for a fully automated distribution centre by Sime Darby Property Bhd and Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd here today.
Located in City of Elmina, the distribution centre is set to improve supply chain efficiency and the distribution of goods needed by the people, thus fortifying Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s main logistics hub.
Set to be completed in the third quarter of 2027, the centre will widely employ automation and digitalisation including robotics, automatic storage and retrieval, and real-time data analytics.
In October, the state government launched Speed Selangor to expedite and ease development project and business licence approvals.
The initiative shortened approval periods from three months to a maximum of 30 days for high-impact strategic industrial and commercial projects.
Speed Selangor also emphasises principles of business facilitation, by ensuring speed and efficiency among local authorities without compromising on transparency and government accountability.
