AMPANG JAYA, Dec  4 — The state government continues to operate at maximum preparedness in response to the weather warning for tomorrow and Saturday (December 6), as authorities anticipate a high-tide phenomenon that could heighten flood risks across several locations.

State executive councillor for disaster management Mohd Najwan Halimi said over 1,000 state-gazetted temporary relief centres (PPS) are on standby and can be activated immediately if necessary.

“Looking at the possibility of a high-tide phenomenon on December 5 and December 6, we are making preparations during that period, especially if there is rain and so on, there is a risk of possible flooding.

“So in terms of preparations, they have been carried out well, and we are still monitoring the situation from time to time.

“If we look at last week, it was quite critical… the rain continued, but Alhamdulillah (God be praised), this week the weather seems to be improving. However, we cannot take it lightly.

“We are still in the cautionary period. We have also announced that the holidays of state government officials, especially heads of departments, presidents, mayors, and so on, will be frozen until December 15,” he said after officiating the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Entrepreneurs' Mini Carnival 2025 today.

As of now, nine PPS are operating in three districts, providing shelter to 815 victims from 266 families.

This includes 151 victims in two PPS in Hulu Langat, 13 in one PPS in Sabak Bernam, and 651 in six PPS in Kuala Selangor.
