SHAH ALAM, Feb 18 — Floods that inundated 50 buildings in Klang after heavy rain on Monday have receded, said Klang District Officer Amri Ismail.
He said his office hasn’t received reports of property damage due to the disaster.
“Only one public complaint was received about damage to the surface of Jalan Bukit Payung in Kampung Bukit Kapar,” he told Media Selangor.
He added that 14 locations in North Klang, South Klang and Pulau Indah are at high risk of flooding. They are:
North Klang
Kampung Tok Muda
Kampung Sungai Serdang breakwater
Kampung Perepat
Kampung Sementa
Kampung Batu 4
Jalan Harper
South Klang
Pelabuhan Klang (Taman Kem)
Pulau Ketam Jetty Terminal
Taman Teluk Gedung Indah
Taman Selat Damai
Pandamaran Industrial Area
Pulau Indah
Kampung Sungai Kembong
Kampung Sungai Pinang
Telok Gong
He advised residents to be alert as the high-tide phenomenon is expected to last till Friday.
Amri also said victims may apply for disaster aid through the Social Welfare Department (JKM), community service centres, or relevant agencies.
On Monday night, 50 homes and premises in Klang were flooded after prolonged rain.
Among areas that were inundated were Taman Rashna, the Sungai Rasau Industrial Park, Taman Mutiara, Bukit Raja, and Jalan Meru.
The high-tide phenomenon can cause seawater to flow to land and increase flood risks in low-lying areas.
