SEPANG, Dec 3 — Team Selangor volunteers are intensifying post-flood cleanups in critical areas, including in Kampung Giching in Sepang and Kampung Parit Mahang in Kuala Selangor.

Team Selangor community programme officer Amin Hafidzi said immediate action is needed as victims’ homes are full of silt and mud.

“The situation is quite bad. Team Selangor managed to send 20 volunteers to Kampung Giching to clean six homes, including throwing away damaged belongings and (cleaning) silt.

“Every home is estimated to have produced 100 to 150kg of waste,” he told Media Selangor.

Meanwhile, volunteer Siti Norseha Abu Samah, 50, said she has been volunteering for five years because she enjoys helping people, especially during disasters.

“We help them clean their houses, move their belongings and prepare food. When we see the residents happy, we’re happy, too,” she said.

Even though the work is challenging, especially when the mud dries and cakes into dust, Team Selangor is committed to helping residents clean their homes.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor government has lined up 5,000 volunteers to assist in post-flood cleanups.
