SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — The Selangor Entrepreneur Expo (SelBiz), which gathers over 100 local traders, is targeting a transaction value of up to RM1 million over the event’s three days, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

He said this is a realistic aim as since 2022, previous such events logged an overall transaction value of nearly RM10 million.

“This fourth edition (of SelBiz) anticipates over 25,000 visitors. Other than the entrepreneurs’ sales space, we have also involved financial institutions, state agencies, and higher learning centres to expand business networking opportunities.

“This year, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is focusing on the mastery of technology, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence (AI) as entrepreneurs’ current main need,” he said when launching SelBiz at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here today.

Najwan said most entrepreneurs in the state have shown high adaptability to current technologies thanks to various state initiatives, including Platform Selangor (PLATS), Selangor Youth Community (SAY), and Yayasan Hijrah Selangor.

“Nearly 90 per cent of petty traders, including hawkers, now use digital transactions. We want everyone to shift with market needs, even if it takes time,” he added.

According to him, SelBiz isn’t just a sales platform, but also provides content like trade talks, guidance sessions, industry sharing segments, and fun for the whole family.

“In addition to driving entrepreneur development, we want this expo to become a space for the local community to enjoy activities with their families,” Najwan said.

SelBiz offers over 200 lucky draw gifts, including the main prize of a five-day sailing package, as well as performances by popular artistes like Dayang Nurfaizah, Adira Suhaimi, Black Hanifah and Zarul Umbrella.

Introduced by PKNS in 2022, SelBiz is a strategic platform to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and promote local products to a wider market, as well as strengthen Selangor’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
