SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — The state government has approved Phase 3 of the temporary rent aid for victims displaced by the April 1 Putra Heights gas pipeline blast, said state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.

He said the move was passed during the State Executive Council meeting this morning, as the district office reported a need for rent aid from October to December.

The RM738,000 payout is set to benefit 123 households.

Borhan said the funds will be distributed by the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) soon, adding that the initiative reflects the state government’s continuous commitment to ensure victims’ welfare.

“The state government wants to make sure victims can go home when things are truly restored and safe,” he said in a statement today.

Previously, in Phase 1, 365 households received RM2.19 million in temporary rent aid for the April to June period.

The Selangor government also approved RM864,000 in rent aid for 144 households for the July to September period.

On April 1, the gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights destroyed 81 homes, damaged 81, and affected but didn’t burn 57 units.
