REMBAU, Nov 22 — The full report on the temporary structure collapse at the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project site on the MRR2 in Batu Caves is expected to be ready in two weeks, the Human Resources Ministry (MOHR) said.
Its secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said the authorities, including the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH), have visited the site and are collecting information before the report is finalised.
“Let’s wait for about a week to a week and a half to obtain the report’s findings, and based on that, we will then determine the next steps, whether it involves court action or other measures.
“This is a technical matter; there are many aspects to consider, including legal context. We need to know the cause of this incident — whether it was due to technical aspects or not following the scope. All of this will be investigated,” he told reporters after launching the Kesuma Madani Adopted Village Programme at SK Chembong here today.
He said any factors, including negligence, technical faults, or non-compliance with standard operating procedures, will be determined once the investigation report is done.
Azman advised all parties involved in construction work to adhere to workplace safety regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
On Wednesday, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad was reported as saying the temporary structure was believed to have collapsed due to a collision involving the skylift used for paint thickness inspections.
