SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — The Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Parks in Puchong and Cyberjaya are set to push Selangor’s investment potential to RM3 billion, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said the Puchong site, which was launched in August last year, received encouraging response when it drew 14 global and local companies in less than a year.
“This investment generated 205 high-income jobs, especially in circuit design engineering. We are aiming for this to increase to 400 engineers by the end of 2026.
“Selangor is also growing the industry chain by developing a second park in Cyberjaya, which now operates as Southeast Asia’s first world-class chip testing facility.
“We want to create a complete chain, from chip design to testing, to make the state a regional semiconductor hub,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.
The Puchong IC Design Park provides a comprehensive ecosystem that gathers industry players, research centres, and supply chain partners. Its strategic location in the Greater Klang Valley also positions Selangor as the main destination for hi-tech companies.
Meanwhile, Ng said the state government is intensifying aerospace sector development at the Selangor Aero Park (SAP) through an incorporated joint venture with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
“This cooperation model ensures SAP’s development is orderly, with governance that is trusted by investors, in line with planning for the KLIA Aeropolis,” he added.
SAP, which sits on a 242ha site in the KLIA Aeropolis, has the potential to reach a gross development value of RM2.3 billion and contribute RM55.2 billion to the national aerospace sector’s annual earnings.
