SHAH ALAM, Nov 19 — The development of the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Parks in Selangor is propelling the state forward in its push to become a leading regional hub for chip design

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the state administration is confident in the parks’ progress and development, especially with the support from both the Federal and state governments.

“With the support we are receiving, I am confident we are on the right track. Of course, everyone is competing now, so we cannot afford to just sit and wait.

“We already have so many strong initiatives in the IC Design Park 1, and we are continuing to recruit more talent for IC Design Parks 1 and 2.

“With the target of having more than 400 IC design engineers by the end of next year, I am very confident that we are on the right track to become the IC design hub for the Asean region,” he told the press during the IC Design Park public showcase at the State Secretariat Building (SUK) today.

The first IC Design Park in Puchong was officially launched in August 2024, while the second, in Cyberjaya, was launched earlier this month, providing additional space and facilities for chip design companies, talent development programmes, and international collaboration.

During the launch of the second park on November 6, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative will further strengthen Selangor’s role in the national semiconductor value chain.

He described it as a key milestone in the state’s mission to become Malaysia’s leading semiconductor hub and a main player in the global chip design ecosystem.

Regarding today’s showcase, Ng said it provides the public with a clearer view of the companies and innovations emerging from IC Design Park 1.

“The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has taken the initiative to display products from companies based in IC Design Park 1 to give a brief introduction to the public visiting the SUK foyer,” he said.

Ng also highlighted the park’s growing technological achievements, including chips for drones and camera systems.

Among the technologies showcased were Atoz Carbon Cycle’s Verde Series ‘Green Lung’ system, WyseTime’s AI Vision ISP chip, first-person view (FPV) drones, Liroc photonic detection chip, Cortical Labs’ biological computing platform, MaiStorage enterprise SSDs, and embedded IoT systems.
