GOMBAK, Nov 16 — The work-from-home (WFH) concept for women introduced by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has shown a positive impact on productivity and employee well-being.

State executive councillor for women’s empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the state government will also incorporate this policy through a study by Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) to enable working mothers to balance their careers and family responsibilities better.

“WFH not only allows full-time work to be carried out at home, but flexible hours also give working mothers the space to fulfil their responsibilities as caregivers,” she told Media Selangor.

Anfaal added that the initiative aligns with the state government’s efforts to empower women, expand flexible career opportunities, and ensure a balance between employment and family responsibilities.

Meanwhile, she said efforts to increase women’s workforce participation through the Career Comeback programme, carried out with TalentCorp in five districts, including Gombak, Klang, and Hulu Langat this year, have attracted more than 1,000 women.

The councillor noted that entrepreneurs in the state now have the opportunity to enter international markets through WBS' IbuNiaga, an initiative that focuses on capacity-building, product quality, and strategic marketing.

The state government has also signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to ensure IbuNiaga benefits low-income women.

“We have formalised collaborations with Taylor’s University and the Product Lab Hasil Suri Selangor (HaSSel), together with the Khadijah International Waqf Foundation, to support this effort.

“Through the collaboration with Taylor’s University, students will conduct research while low-income mothers will be given opportunities to run businesses on campus, in addition to receiving business training,” Anfaal said.

Meanwhile, the collaboration with the Khadijah International Waqf Foundation provides participants with the opportunity to produce crafts for showcase and sale at Merdeka 118, thereby enhancing product quality to meet international standards.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that the 2026 Selangor Budget has allocated RM500,000 for the Women’s Career Carnival to help women match with professional and technical job opportunities.

With this allocation, women entrepreneurs in the state will be further empowered, enabling them not only to grow their businesses but also to break into global markets with higher-quality products.
