HULU LANGAT, July 4 — The Hulu Langat leg of the Selangor Resilient Women roadshow offers more opportunities for women to rejoin the workforce and rebuild their careers, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.
She said the 38 companies featured in the roadshow offer more job choices to attendees and support efforts to strengthen Selangor’s economy.
“For the Hulu Langat zone, I think we have more companies than in the Petaling zone where we had around 21 companies, and for Hulu Langat, maybe because there are more industrial (areas) here, we have 38 participating companies.
“We will get information from the Selangor Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) on how many (jobseekers) were recruited based on walk-in interviews and such,” she said when officiating the roadshow here today.

Anfaal said Selangor made its people proud when it ranked second in Malaysia in terms of its female labour participation rate (FLPR), above the national rate.
“This is a success but we cannot be complacent. It is not just statistics; it must be translated into opportunities for women to earn incomes, improve their economy, self-esteem, and ability to send children to more quality facilities.
“This is because with peace of mind, mothers who are able to work can contribute to strengthening the state economy,” she added.
Meanwhile, Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) chief executive officer Siti Faridah Abdul Samad said the roadshow aims to expand its reach to more segments of society.
“Each zone we visit takes a customised approach … but the goal is still the same, which is to ensure women in Selangor are empowered with appropriate opportunities, support, and networks.
“Our hope is for this roadshow to give each woman who comes the confidence that there is a support network always ready to help them grow into their own potential,” she added.

Earlier, Anfaal witnessed an MOU exchange between WBS and SOCSO. The deal is aimed at fortifying strategic partnerships to expand career development opportunities and social security for women in Selangor.
At the same ceremony, Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (YANIS) presented RM15,000 to the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) for the Special Needs Education Students Assessment Screening Programme (PROSPER).
The first leg of the Selangor Resilient Women roadshow was held in Petaling last month. It continues until November in Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Kuala Selangor.
