SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — Approximately 16,199 applications have been received for the MamaKerja 2.0 initiative to assist working mothers in Selangor since registration opened on August 17.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the approval process is expected to take around 45 days.
“Of the total figures, 16,091 are currently under review while 108 have been rejected due to several factors, including not fulfilling the conditions or are not Selangor voters.
“Other factors that caused for rejections are because the application did not have children under (the age of) six and failed to provide proof of employment,” she told Media Selangor.
Applications for MamaKerja 2.0 can be made through the NINE app starting August 17, and the funds totalling RM1,000 will be distributed in two phases.
In the first phase, successful applicants will receive RM500 while the remaining RM500 will be distributed in the second phase, within 90 days from the date of the first approval.
The state government has relaxed the eligibility requirements for the second round of MamaKerja 2.0 to allow more working mothers in Selangor to receive the benefit.
Among the main changes, applicants now only need to have at least one child aged six years and below, compared to the minimum requirement of three children when MamaKerja 1.0 was first implemented.
On the eligibility conditions for the MamaKerja 2.0, the applicant must be a Malaysian citizen, a Selangor voter, and employed with a household income of RM8,000 and below.
The applicants must also have yet to receive any of the following incentives: MamaKerja 1.0, Asuh Pintar, TUNAS, and Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (BINGKAS).
Priority will be given to applicants who send their children to a registered kindergarten or nursery, or to caregivers who have followed the Basic Care Course/Kursus Asas Pengasuhan (KAP) or the Early Childhood Care and Education Commitment (IMPAK).
The MamaKerja initiative is among the 100-day Tawaran Kita Selangor promised by the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalition to the people after the 2023 Selangor State Election.
