Seven new managed industrial parks to be built in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 — Seven managed industrial parks (MIPs) are currently being developed in Selangor, as part of efforts to attract local and foreign investors into the state, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

These parks will be built on 3.71 million acres of land, with three in Kuala Langat, three in Gombak, and one in Klang.

He said the state government will also allocate RM5 million next year to continue supporting the Semiconductor IC Design Park initiative, a move to enhance Selangor’s position in high-value supply chains.

“To ensure the semiconductor industry can enhance its overall sustainability, the state government will also establish the Selangor Semiconductor Fund with an initial RM40 million allocation as seed financing in the form of loans, to expand the fund to RM100 million through private sector collaboration.

This fund will accelerate access to development capital for companies involved in semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) design, strengthening Selangor and Malaysia’s capability to export semiconductors,” Amirudin said when tabling the 2026 Selangor Budget in the State Legislative Assembly today.

He also announced several other efforts to attract investments, strengthen investor confidence, stimulate regional development, and widen global market access for local businesses, including:

  • The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS): Plans are being made to expand SIBS beyond Malaysia by taking the summit to selected Asean countries with strong business potential. The move could unlock new two-way growth opportunities, namely enabling Selangor companies to invest abroad, and foreign companies to establish a presence here.

  • The Selangor Soft Landing Programme and Selangor Lab Partnership: The Selangor Soft Landing Programme has attracted 13 investor companies, while the Selangor Lab Partnership has engaged six firms in the life sciences sector.

  • The SME-Investors Linkages: The new initiative will connect local companies with foreign investors, with a RM15 million allocation.

  • The Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss): Approximately 13,085.56 acres covering nine projects have been approved by the state government as special Idriss developments. These projects are currently at various stages of planning, approval, and implementation.

  • The Sabak Bernam Development Area (Sabda): Long-abandoned structures like the Hay Resort building and Pantai Bumi Hijau will be revitalised to create new attractions along the West Coast. RM5 million will be allocated to the Sabak Bernam District Council to develop the area.

  • The Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG): Starting next year, SMG will develop areas along Sungai Klang, including free-market housing and affordable homes, beginning with Kampung Fajar Phase 1 in Gombak. In total, nine plots will be created between 2026 and 2030, covering an estimated 263 acres and delivering 970 affordable homes and 2,433 free-market units.

  • Local Content Policy: Selangor aims to achieve 30 per cent local content in critical components, including service systems, networks, and energy-efficiency systems, to increase local firms’ participation in data centre investments.
