Selangor reserves rise to RM4.8b, revenue exceeds projection — MB

SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 — Selangor’s financial reserves have continued to strengthen, rising by RM706.23 million this year to reach RM4.839 billion, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The state’s reserves have maintained an upward trajectory since 2018, growing by RM2.703 billion over the period, despite a challenging economic environment and global uncertainties that could negatively affect Malaysia and Selangor.

"As of December 31, the State Government’s Consolidated Fund, consisting of the Consolidated Revenue Account and the Consolidated Trust Account, recorded a total of RM4.132 billion.

"For 2025, as of November 12, the state’s financial position has continued to improve, increasing by RM706.23 million.

"This brings the current reserves of the State Consolidated Fund to RM4.839 billion, comprising RM1.608 billion in the Consolidated Revenue Account and RM3.23 billion in the Consolidated Trust Account," he said when tabling the 2026 Selangor Budget in the State Legislative Assembly today.

Amirudin added that the state's strong financial position is supported by comprehensive and systematic public financial management practices focused on prudent expenditure control.

Selangor has recorded a surplus of RM402.58 million as of Wednesday (November 12), after accounting for operating expenditure of RM1.288 billion (75.77 per cent) and development expenditure of RM799.32 million (61.49 per cent).

"We expect the overall performance of both operating and development expenditures to reach an average of more than 90 per cent by December 31,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state has collected RM2.495 billion in revenue so far this year, equivalent to 106.17 per cent of the 2025 estimated revenue of RM2.35 billion.

"For the record, actual revenue has surpassed the targeted amount every year since 2019,” Amirudin said.

Of the total collected so far, tax revenue accounted for RM733.28 million, non-tax revenue (RM1.504 billion), and non-revenue receipts (RM257.72 million).

"We project this year's revenue can reach over RM2.7 billion by the end of the year. This is an amazing achievement for the state government, given the challenging economic and geopolitical situation today.

"I would like to congratulate state civil servants, especially officers in the revenue unit, who have worked tirelessly to achieve this year's revenue performance,” he said.
