SHAH ALAM, Nov 3 — The land ownership status in Kampung Jawa, Klang, involving the construction of the West Coast Expressway (WCE), is expected to be resolved this afternoon, said the state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.
The matter will be discussed during a special meeting at 2.30pm in the State Secretariat Building.
“Last week we had an open discussion, including with the minister himself. Today, we aim to reach a final resolution.
“The WCE is a public-interest project. We need both expressways: the WCE and PLUS, as the distance between them is only 150 metres. There will be a mechanism discussed to reach and affirm a decision,” he said.
Borhan was speaking to the press after officiating the closing ceremony of the International Malay World Innovation Competition (IMAN25) at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) today.
On Saturday (November 1), Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed that a decision regarding WCE's construction would be made following a final meeting with the parties involved today.
The issue in Kampung Jawa has persisted, with 19 residents reportedly still refusing to relocate, although most of the land acquisition process has already been completed by the authorities.
It is understood that all of the residents involved are among the 52 landowners in the project’s alignment area, and most have received compensation from the concessionaire.
The 233-kilometre-long WCE connects Taiping, Perak, to Banting, Selangor, with 21 interchanges, including links to the SKVE, NKVE, PLUS, NNKSB, and LATAR expressways.
