PUTRAJAYA, Oct 28 — Selangor’s plan to become a metropolitan city by 2029 will be included in the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that developments and preparations to implement the plan will be detailed at the RS-2’s tabling in June.
“We will table (the RS-2) at the first (assembly) session next year. Part of the plan has been included in the RS-2 and is in line with the state government’s moves.
“God willing, this aim can be achieved. We will continue to monitor periodically so implementation goes according to plan within the determined framework,” he said after delivering the keynote speech today at the National Planning Congress, held in conjunction with World Urbanism Day and officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Previously, Amirudin said Selangor’s aim to become a metropolis could be realised by combining its four main cities — Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang.
RS-2, which dictates the state’s direction from next year, will focus on the development of a Selangor rail network to improve public transport connectivity between the northern and southern regions of the state.
