SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — The Selangor Water Management Authority has opened an investigation paper against a plastic recycling company following the discovery of a red-coloured water discharge along Jalan Udang Gantung in Telok Gong, Klang.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Luas said the red water flow was detected in the premises' drainage system around noon yesterday, and is believed to have flowed into Sungai Langat.
"Further check found that the coloured discharge originated from a machine inside the premises.
"Luas has ordered the premises to stop the discharge immediately," it said, adding that the team has collected samples at the location and sent them to the Chemistry Department for further analysis.
According to Luas, investigation is conducted under Sections 59 and 79 of the Luas Enactment 1999 for offences related to water source pollution.
It added that action was also taken against the premises for operating without a Return Water Discharge Licence as well as an Entry or Release of Waste and Pollutant Materials Licence.
“The situation at the location has been fully contained to prevent further impact on nearby water sources and rivers."
