SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The state government will work closely with the police, the Education Ministry, and local communities to immediately strengthen safety measures across all schools in the state, following the fatal stabbing of a female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama this morning.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he had spoken with Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, who confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the case does not involve racial elements.
“As a father of a daughter myself, I cannot imagine the grief the victim’s parents are going through.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family and pray they find strength and protection in facing this horrific tragedy,” he said in a statement.
Amirudin added that the state government views the case with utmost seriousness and that it would be prioritised in the upcoming State Executive Council meeting.
He said that measures, including enhanced security protocols and mental health support for students, will be discussed and implemented to ensure a safe learning environment for all children in Selangor.

Meanwhile, Bandar Utama state assemblywoman Jamaliah Jamaluddin urged the public to allow the authorities space to conduct a fair investigation and to refrain from spreading inaccurate information.
“This is a deeply heartbreaking incident that no one wishes to happen,” she said in a statement, extending her condolences to the victim’s family.
Jamaliah’s office is in contact with the relevant authorities to obtain updates and is ready to provide any necessary assistance and support to those affected, including students, teachers, and parents.
Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed the incident and the arrest of a 14-year-old male student in connection with the stabbing of a Form 4 girl at a secondary school in Bandar Utama.
He said the attack occurred at 9.30am at the school, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The motive for the incident is still under investigation, and the Selangor police chief will provide further details in due course,” Khalid said.
