SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — Budget 2026 is the right move from the government to give youth the opportunity to create jobs, not just seek them, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

He said the emphasis on youth, entrepreneurs and the M40 group would not only improve the nation’s economic resilience, but reflect Putrajaya’s continuous effort to comprehensively develop the people’s capacity.

“The funding of RM150 million through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and RM12 million through SME Corp proves the government’s commitment to empower young entrepreneurs,” he said in a statement today.

According to Najwan, various initiatives in the state complement the agenda, including Platform Selangor (PLATS) and Hijrah Selangor, which help entrepreneurs with training, guidance, and marketing to create a holistic entrepreneurship ecosystem.

“Our focus isn’t just on preparing capital, but building a comprehensive ecosystem including training, mentorship, market access, and industry networks. Our aim is to produce competitive, sustainable young entrepreneurs who can contribute to the state and national economy,” he said.

He added that Budget 2026 shows the balance between immediate aid and long-term investment, which is needed to ensure the nation’s economic stability.

“The RM100 payout for all citizens aged 18 and above and RM600 million for Rahmah Sales proves the government’s concern for living costs.

“Selangor is ready to support policy implementation at the state level so benefits reach the people,” Najwan said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled the RM470 billion Budget 2026 in Parliament.
