SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — The Selangor government is looking to transform local councils from next year, which Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari will announce while tabling the 2026 Selangor State Budget or the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2).
“The state government will always do its utmost to ensure all agencies, including local councils, deliver their best. A few days ago, we launched the Speed Selangor policy to facilitate businesses and services in this state.
“Next year, God willing, the state government is targeting a comprehensive transformation across local councils, which means Speed Selangor won’t just focus on businesses, but underline several decisions directly to the people.
“Issues such as complaints about homes, road conditions, training centres or recreation centres will be given attention, and, God willing, will be presented during the tabling of the budget or RS-2 later,” he said at the launch of the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) silver jubilee celebration at Dataran Kemerdekaan here yesterday.

Amirudin thanked the MBSA administration and Shah Alam residents who have always been important proponents for the city of Shah Alam.
“May people of various races and backgrounds continue to harmonise Shah Alam, and let’s pray that this city continues to grow,” he said.
Meanwhile, over 10,000 people thronged Dataran Kemerdekaan to celebrate MBSA’s silver jubilee here yesterday.
Shah Alam Mayor Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Yatim said the event was held to show appreciation for citizens who have supported MBSA.
“Contributions in the form of assessment rate revenue, participation in programmes, recommendations from Shah Alam residents, and assistance from the state and federal governments have built a dynamic city that is sustainable, inclusive, and liveable.
“Thank you for the ceaseless support and trust in the MBSA to prove our capabilities as a municipal service provider that has achieved various awards,” Fauzi said during the celebration.

The colourful event featured attractive performances from popular artistes including Jamal Abdillah, Ernie Zakri, Ara Johari, and Haziq Rosebi, and a parade by the MBSA contingent, schools around Shah Alam, and MBSA strategic partners.
Also on the agenda were the Shah Alam Neon run and Coffee Festival, which drew crowds in droves.
MBSA also chose a lucky winner in the category “Most Loyal Assessment Rate Contributor”, Wong Lee Heoh, 53, who took home a Proton e.Mas 7.
Wong told Media Selangor he was excited and had not expected to be named winner, and emphasised the importance of paying taxes on time.
“I am so grateful, this is my dream car, thank you MBSA! To all Shah Alam residents, don’t avoid your assessment tax, and if you can, just pay for the whole year,” said Wong who also settles his assessment rate by the year.
