KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Selangor is set to play a main role in producing skilled workers and providing 15,000 engineering jobs in the semiconductor field, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the push is part of the state’s commitment to supporting the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), which targets the production of at least 60,000 high-skilled engineers.

“This year, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) goes further with the Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day,” he said during the launch of AI x Semiconductor Blitzscaling Malaysia’s Deep Tech, held at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur here today.

Amirudin said that during the four-day Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), over 30 global and local employers will be offering 500 jobs.

These careers, he added, encompass industry training, the recruitment of fresh graduates and experienced engineers, and immediate interview opportunities.

“This is the best opportunity for young and professional engineers to build their futures in Selangor,” he said.

Amirudin added that he is confident the target of producing 15,000 engineers, or 25 per cent of the national requirement, can be realised with the cooperation of various industries, education institutions, and state development agencies.
