KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has approved nine public-private partnership (PPP) projects with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM1.2 billion from January to September.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said the projects include a serviced apartment, parking lot, food court and sports centre, agro urban site (PJ Food Valley), cemetery, and commercial space.
“The projects we are implementing are for the community, such as a columbarium and parking lot, due to many complaints from the community.
“We have obtained private sector cooperation and discussed these matters, at the technical committee level and such,” he said when met after the Petaling Jaya investment appreciation ceremony, held in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.

During the ceremony, Zahri said the PPP Project Implementation Procedure Guidelines is the MBPJ’s investment initiative that was specifically formulated to ensure all PPP projects are implemented based on the principles of transparency, accountability, and value for money.
“The MBPJ is grateful to all industry partners, agencies and investors for their continuous support in achieving our sustainable and inclusive development agenda.
“Under the state government’s guidance, the MBPJ will continue to boost public-private synergy to make Petaling Jaya a main investment destination in Selangor and Malaysia,” Zahri said.
SIBS features over 700 exhibits by local and international industry players.
The annual event, held since 2015, this year includes two new events — the Selangor International Care Summit (SICS) and Selangor Aerospace Summit (SAS).
