SEPANG, Oct 6 — A total of 167 families have received offer letters for the Ampar Tenang People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Dengkil, worth over RM88 million, marking the end of a wait spanning more than two decades.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the recipients were formerly residents of temporary Low-Cost Housing (RKR) units in Taman Permata, Dengkil, after being relocated around 1998 from several estates, including Ladang Prang Besar.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), we have finally resolved an issue that has dragged on for over 25 years. It began around 1998 or 1999 with the development of Putrajaya, which involved relocating residents from Ladang Prang Besar to temporary housing.
“However, this temporary stay lasted more than 20 years. During their stay in Taman Permata, the state government tried to assist by maintaining and upgrading the area, spending around RM1.5 million.
"But the temporary housing was in poor condition. Today, the homes promised more than two decades ago have finally been realised,” he said after presenting offer letters and conducting a balloting session for the Ampar Tenang PPR today.
Amirudin added that homeowners who have received their offer letters can move into their new houses after completing several matters, including utility arrangements.

“For the record, this is the second housing resolution after the relocation of residents from five estates in Hulu Selangor, which involved a total cost of RM75 million, supported by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT),” he said.
Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said the Ampar Tenang PPR project consists of 404 single-storey terrace houses with a total construction cost exceeding RM88 million, fully funded by the government.
Each unit measures 700 sq ft, featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is valued at over RM217,000.
Recipients are only required to settle a RM20,000 payment for their previous Taman Permata RKR homes to Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) to qualify for the new houses, which will be given free of charge.
The housing area is also equipped with basic facilities, including a community hall, open spaces for residents, and four units that are accessible to disabled people.
“The implementation of Ampar Tenang PPR demonstrates the Madani government’s commitment, through KPKT, to provide comfortable, high-quality, and affordable housing,” she said.
Previously, news reports said the recipients of the new homes comprised workers from four estates — Prang Besar, Medingly, Galloway, and Sedgely — who had been living in temporary housing at Taman Permata.
The Ampar Tenang project was specifically developed to relocate residents of Taman Permata RKR after their existing homes were deemed unsafe due to severe structural cracks.
