KLANG, June 11 — The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has instructed that the installation of the sewerage pipeline network for the abandoned housing project in Taman Meru Makmur be completed within one month to ensure its rehabilitation can proceed without further delay.
Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said the project, involving 100 housing units, has been abandoned since 2006 and is now being revived with an RM2.3 million allocation from the federal government.
Although the project was originally scheduled for completion by the end of this month, several technical issues have caused delays. However, she said these challenges must not affect the commitment to completing work that has been pending for so long.

“Within the next month, the sewerage pipeline network must be fully completed. If there are workforce constraints, the contractor must increase manpower resources to ensure the work is completed within the stipulated timeframe,” Athirah said.
She was speaking to the media after inspecting the progress of the project's rehabilitation works during an official site visit today.
Athirah added that KPKT takes a serious view of the project, which has remained unresolved since the Sale and Purchase Agreement was signed in 2002, and will continue to closely monitor its implementation to ensure it is completed in accordance with the required specifications and timeline.
“The government wants to ensure that these abandoned projects do not continue to burden the people. We will ensure they are completed promptly and in accordance with the prescribed standards,” she said.
