KUALA LANGAT, Oct 5 — The Santuni Madani programme at Kampung Sungai Lang Baru yesterday not only strengthened bonds among local residents but also encouraged active participation from the younger generation through rewang (communal cooking) and friendly football matches.
Saliah Towel, 62, said the programme served as a platform bringing together people of all ages — from the young to the elderly — thereby reinforcing familial and neighbourhood ties within the community.
“There was clear cooperation among residents regardless of age, race, or background.
“In addition to the rewang activity, contributions were also channelled to six residents in need through Ziarah Kasih home visits and the distribution of 150 Bakul Rahmah food aid packages to ease the burden of less fortunate families,” she told Media Selangor.

For Zainun Marijo, 70, the widespread participation from all levels of society through Santuni Madani reflects the growing spirit of togetherness among villagers.
“The organisation of such programmes indirectly nurtures values of gotong-royong and teamwork, which are increasingly being forgotten. I hope initiatives like this will continue to strengthen solidarity among residents,” he said.

Meanwhile, Arjunah Marzuki, 62, expressed gratitude for being chosen as one of the recipients under the Prihatin Programme, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at repairing dilapidated homes.
“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), I am truly grateful for the assistance received from the Property Management Division (BPH) and Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) to repair my home.
“Previously, my house would be flooded every time it rained, but with this aid, it truly means a lot and helps ease my family’s burden,” she said.

During the event, state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah and BPH secretary in the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) Mohd Iqbal Mohd Noor visited Kampung Sungai Lang Baru residents, who had been selected for the Santuni Madani programme.
Two houses were selected for repairs under the supervision of the LZS' Kuala Langat branch, in collaboration with BPH and JPM. Another unit was repaired with contributions from four concession companies, totalling RM107,100.
