SHAH ALAM, Oct 3 — The Selangor Talent in Arts and Entrepreneurship Programme 2025 (STEP2025) is expected to serve as a key platform for bringing together artistic talent while strengthening the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem, said state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.
The event, scheduled to take place on October 25 at Dewan Konsert Seri Budiman in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, is expected to draw more than 1,000 visitors, including undergraduates from various higher learning institutions.
“In addition to UiTM’s Faculty of Music, the programme will also feature participation from students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Politeknik Gombak, and the Kuala Lumpur Music College,” he said during a press conference on the programme at Glass House Glenmarie yesterday.
Najwan added that STEP2025, which will run from 9am to 7pm, is not merely an arts festival, but a strategic platform that proves arts and music can act as a catalyst for the creative economy.
“This programme also aims to build the competitiveness of young entrepreneurs and position Selangor as a hub of youth talent,” he said.
STEP2025 will be enlivened by performances from local artistes, including legendary guitarist Man Kidal, music maestro Datuk Ramli MS, Edrie Hashim, Qi Razali, the band Kombat Pilgrims, and Dukes.
In addition to musical performances, the event will also feature exhibitions, business booths, training workshops, forums, knowledge-sharing sessions, and networking opportunities for youths.
To support this initiative, the state government, via the Entrepreneurship Standing Committee, has allocated RM5,000 to UiTM Shah Alam’s Faculty of Music to assist 30 students in need.
“This demonstrates the state government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the success of STEP2025. I urge students and young people to seize this opportunity to broaden their knowledge, build networks, and ignite the aspirations of the younger generation,” Najwan said.
