SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has bestowed the First Class Honour of Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor upon Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz following her marriage to Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah today.
In a statement today, the Sultan’s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said she will now bear the honorific Datin Paduka Seri in her official capacity as the Raja Muda’s wife.
Born on April 11, 1993, at Hospital Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, she is the third child and only daughter of Dato’ Abdul Aziz and Datin Rosmawati Ismail.
She champions environmental conservation and community well-being through inclusive development across the country.
She received her early education at Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, and pursued her A-Levels at St George’s Ascot in the United Kingdom, before obtaining a bachelor’s in development studies and economics from the school of Oriental and African studies from the University of London.
Driven by a deep interest in urban resilience and environmental sustainability, she pursued a master’s in sustainable cities at King’s College London.
Throughout her studies abroad, she was active in student leadership and community initiatives, serving as School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Malaysian Society president and non-governmental organisation Teach For Malaysia campus representative.
In her professional career, Afzaa has led various projects to restore degraded areas into biodiverse rainforests, regenerating ecosystems in the process.
She is also an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist and contributing columnist for The Star, where she shares insights on rainforest conservation, environmental issues and sustainability.
Her expertise has brought her to global platforms, including the Malaysian Pavilion at the United Nation’s COP28 climate change conference in Dubai in 2023.
She is also active in community service, participating in food security programmes for Orang Asli communities with Free Food Society and supporting human rights advocacy through Amnesty International.
As a volunteer with Epic Home Builder, Afzaa has helped build safe homes for underprivileged communities, especially for Orang Asli across Malaysia.
She leads an active lifestyle as a Professional Association of Diving Instructors advanced diver, tennis player and half-marathon runner, while also being an avid Formula 1 enthusiast.
Her presence in the Selangor royal family marks the beginning of a meaningful new chapter that honours traditional heritage while elevating the values of progress and service to society.
