SHAH ALAM, Jan 9 — The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and his consort Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Dato' Abdul Aziz graciously officiated the Dirgahayu Cinta exhibition at the Sultan Alam Shah Museum today.

The special exhibition, which highlights the Selangor royal wedding ceremonies, revisits the historic moments of His Highness’s marriage to Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa, which took place on October 2 last year, followed by the royal wedding reception and royal banquet on October 22.

Spending nearly an hour at the exhibition, the royal couple viewed the displays, which were opened to the public today. They were accompanied by the state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah and the Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation's (Padat) chief executive officer Rozzana Rahmat.

Borhan said the special exhibition was conceived by the Raja Muda's inspiration, with the aim of allowing the public to better appreciate and understand the beauty, artistic refinement, and grandeur of Selangor royal customs and traditions, particularly those related to royal wedding ceremonies.

“The theme 'Dirgahayu Cinta' was chosen as a manifestation of prayers and hopes, where the expression ‘dirgahayu’, which conveys the meaning of wishing a long life, is expressed as a symbol for the love and affection of His Highness and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa to flourish, endure, and continue to blossom throughout their married life.

“This exhibition is designed not merely as a display of collections, but also as a platform for deeper appreciation of the symbolic values, artistic finesse, and gracious etiquette of royal traditions that form the foundation of Selangor’s identity and character,” he said during the exhibition's officiation.

Running until May 31, it offers the public an opportunity to experience the splendour and beauty of Selangor’s royal wedding traditions, which are rarely witnessed up close.

In addition to presenting the chronology of these historic moments, the exhibition features personal collections of the royal couple, graciously permitted for public display, offering visitors a meaningful and memorable experience.

Among the items on display are the wedding attire worn by Tengku Amir and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa during the solemnisation ceremony, the royal wedding reception, and the royal banquet.

Also exhibited are a replica of the wedding cake, Telepuk embroidery, bunga telur emas, bunga manggar, royal parasols, and nearly 200 photographs spanning pre-wedding moments, the wedding ceremony, the wedding reception, and even their childhood and teenage years.

The organisation of this prestigious exhibition also represents a great honour for the state government and all parties involved in its success.

More than just an exhibition, the initiative is an important step toward documenting and preserving Selangor’s royal heritage, ensuring its historical values and traditions are passed on to future generations.

Members of the public, including visitors from within the country and abroad, are encouraged to attend the exhibition to appreciate the beauty of Selangor’s royal traditions presented in a structured and informative manner.

In addition to the state government, the exhibition involves the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, the Selangor Royal Office, the Office of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Padat, and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

Also collaborating to make the exhibition a success are Media Selangor Sdn Bhd, the Shah Alam City Council, and various state and Federal government departments and agencies.
