PETALING JAYA, Oct 1 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has introduced the Draft Special Area Plan (RKK) for Sections 19, 51, and 51A, with a gross development value (GDV) exceeding RM1.7 billion.
Its Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said the draft is vital in strengthening the position of the areas concerned as a competitive economic growth hub.
“MBPJ is committed to ensuring that development is planned not only to benefit investors and the industrial sector, but also to enhance residents’ quality of life and safeguard environmental sustainability.
“I call on the community, landowners, and stakeholders to provide their views throughout this publicity period so that decisions can be made more transparently and inclusively,” he said in a statement today.
The study area encompasses 406 hectares, with a population of 24,105, covering Sections 19, 51, and 51A.
The draft’s main focus includes land-use rezoning, proposed housing in the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Zone, and mobility improvements.
The draft exhibition will run until October 27 at the MBPJ headquarters' lobby, while a related briefing will be held on October 16 at the MBPJ operations room at 2:30pm.
The public is also encouraged to submit formal feedback to the local authority.
