SHAH ALAM, Sept 28 — More than 50,000 visitors are set to throng Selangor Agrofest (SAF) 2025 at the Shah Alam Stadium Carnival Square.

The state’s largest agriculture festival kicked off on Thursday and ends today.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the sales transaction value for all four days of the event is expected to reach RM50,000.

He said this year’s SAF presents a new side, with a floral exhibit of 4,000 orchids of various kinds.

“This exhibit has been well received. We also drew the participation of over 160 stalls and exhibitors including food sellers, not including governmental department and agency booths.

“We highlighted the Agro Selangor Plus auction centre by building a central structure and auctioning off several agriculture products. It is quite interesting,” Izham said after officiating the festival yesterday.

He said that from this year, the SAF, last held in 2019, will alternate with the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA).

He added that the festival is an important platform for the Selangor government to show its appreciation for those who pour their efforts into advancing the agriculture sector.

“It also opens doors for the people to see the success of agriculture and encourage more people, especially youth, to venture into the field,” he said.

At the SAF, 10 agriculture entrepreneurs received the Ikon Agro Selangor 2024/2025 award, each taking home gifts worth RM10,000.

“Every winner fulfilled the criteria, (including), among others, innovativeness and the use of modern technology. I hope this award can be a morale boost for other agriculture entrepreneurs,” Izham said.
