Selangor eyes CCCC partnership to boost role as regional hub

SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — A potential collaboration with construction giant China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) is expected to boost Selangor's position as a regional economic hub and strengthen the state's role as the gateway to Asean.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Fortune Global 500 company brings proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, ports, highways and bridges, making it highly relevant to Selangor’s development agenda.

“An effective rail network not only shortens travel times but also stimulates economic growth along its corridor, reduces congestion, accelerates logistics and opens up new business opportunities.

“Such infrastructure projects also generate technical and managerial jobs, strengthen local supply chains and create benefits for small and medium enterprises (SMEs),” he said after meeting with CCCC chairman Song Hailiang and the company's top management in Beijing, today.

Also present was Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak.

The meeting focused on the potential for collaboration in developing the Kita Selangor Rail Line as part of the state's green mobility agenda and modern transport network.

The project is currently in the stage of identifying financing strategies and investment partners to ensure its sustainable implementation and maximum benefits for the people.

“Selangor has a strong foundation to attract international investment through Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) as major logistics hubs, complemented by a vibrant business ecosystem.

“This advantage not only facilitates the entry of global players but also reinforces Selangor’s position as a regional growth driver. God willing, such collaborations will bring significant benefits to families and the younger generation in the state,” he said.

The China visit, currently in its fifth day, forms part of the state government’s official trade and investment mission scheduled from September 23 to 30.

The Selangor delegation is also joined by state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated) chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M Yusop, MBI Foundation head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, Invest Selangor CEO Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris and Sidec CEO Yong Kai Ping.
