SHAH ALAM, Sept 25 — The Selangor government delegation led by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari continued its official trade and investment mission in China today with a series of strategic engagements in Beijing.
On the fifth day, Amirudin met with China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), a global infrastructure giant ranked 61st in the 2021 Fortune Global 500 list, to discuss the Kita Selangor Rail project.
CCCC, which is the main contractor for Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), is also the world’s largest builder of ports, highways, bridges, dredging projects, container cranes and offshore oil platforms.
Talks centred on the potential collaboration for Kita Selangor Rail project, a key component of the state’s green mobility and modern transport agenda.
The project is currently in the stage of exploring financing strategies and identifying investment partners to ensure sustainable implementation that maximises benefits for the people.
Later in the day, Amirudin met Malaysian students at Peking University in an engagement session that discussed youth leadership, academic opportunities and the role of young Malaysians as informal ambassadors abroad.
The working visit concluded with a networking dinner with members of the Malaysian diaspora in Beijing at Eastern Restaurant, aimed at strengthening ties and enhancing the role of Malaysian professionals and entrepreneurs in China.
The mission, which runs from September 23 to 30, includes state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop, MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris and Selngor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping.
