Selangor Creative Economy Plan to make state regional leader

SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — The Selangor Creative Economy Plan 2025-2035, which focuses on the cores of multimedia, heritage, and arts and culture, will be launched at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting in November.

State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi expects the plan to receive appropriate funding under the 2026 Selangor State Budget to ensure the 10-year orange economy development agenda goes smoothly.

He said the roadmap, formulated by the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and Selangor Youth Community (SAY), will involve the cooperation of various agencies including the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec).

“From next year, we will launch a training and exposure programme for our entrepreneurs. This will give them an understanding of business development and market realities.

“We will help those with products of potential to export to external markets. This is among the (strategies) contained in this plan, and is being comprehensively studied,” he added.

Najwan was met after the Selangor Creative Economy Expo 2025 (SCEE25) at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre here today, which was graced by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

SCEE25 is a platform to elevate Selangor as a regional creative hub, with an estimated GDP contribution of RM20 billion by 2035.

The event, which ends tomorrow, involves 500 industry players and centres six main catalysts including talent development, market access, and funding.

Carrying the theme “Re:Imagine Selangor: Creativity is the New Economy”, SCEE25 emphasises infrastructure readiness, digital empowerment, and effective governance.
