SHANGHAI, Sept 22 — The Selangor government is making headway in growing the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, with its commitment to make the state a regional hub for electric mobility.
22 SEPT: Kerajaan Negeri Selangor terus melangkah ke hadapan dalam memperkukuh ekosistem kenderaan elektrik (EV) apabila komited menjadikan negeri ini sebagai hab utama mobiliti elektrik serantau.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this commitment was shown through a visit to Shanghai Electric Drive Co Ltd (Shanghai Edrive) today with his delegation of state government officials and representatives from the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Shanghai branch, and Sapura Industrial Bhd to strengthen high-impact investment networks.
“The state government is committed to making Selangor the main regional hub for electric mobility, opening more high-skilled job opportunities,” he said.
Shanghai Edrive is a pioneer in motor, inverter, and eDrive technology, and is known for its development of high-performance, efficient powertrain with excellent noise, vibration and harshness.
Amirudin’s delegation surveyed Shanghai Edrive’s production line including its exhibition centre, test centre, inverter and powertrain installation, and the production of rotors, stators, and hairpins.
“This meeting lets Selangor understand the eDrive technology as a part of the downstream rare earth element chain, in line with efforts to strengthen the state’s EV ecosystem,” said Amirudin.
He stressed Selangor’s advantage as Southeast Asia’s best investment destination with world-class infrastructure, local talent, and investor-friendly policies.
The visit was part of Selangor’s trade and investment mission to China to widen strategic cooperation in green technology.
Earlier today, the delegation visited StarPower Semiconductor Ltd, which said it is considering an investment of RM200 million to establish operations in Malaysia. Selangor is sure to have the strategic edge to attract the global power module technology firm.
On his nine-day trip to China, Amirudin is leading a delegation that includes state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M. Yusop, Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor, Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris, and Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping.
