SUBANG JAYA, Sept 21 — RM80,000 has been allocated under the Selangor Micro Creative Fund to support the early growth of the creative industry.

State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the funds will be distributed to 10 top performers after a pitching session, for which participants will first be shortlisted.

“Applications are closed and we previously broadcasted this programme on social media platforms. Two hundred applications were received and will be shortlisted for final selection.

“The RM80,000 is an early seed for this year’s programme only. God willing, next year, we will announce a larger fund in the 2026 Selangor State Budget that will be tabled in November,” he said.

Najwan added that the shortlisting of finalists will be done at the Selangor Creative Economy Expo 2025 (SCEE25), which will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Selection will be done through a pitching session in the categories of digital content creation, animation, creative solutions and creative social endeavours,” he said.

The expo, themed “Reimagine Selangor: Creativity is the New Economy”, has four main cores dubbed CRE8 — policy, funding, stage and pitching, and business matching.

SCEE25, which will be held at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre in Shah Alam, is set to gather over 500 industry players, investors, and government agencies.

This initiative is part of the Selangor Creative Economy Action Plan 2035, which will be launched at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly in November, with the aim of generating RM20 billion to contribute to the state economy by 2035.
