KUALA LANGAT, Sept 20 — Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the International Coastal Cleanup Day and tree planting event at Pantai Morib this morning.
Her Highness walked two kilometres collecting rubbish, accompanied by Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) President Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd.
Speaking after the programme, Tengku Zatashah expressed delight at gathering over 10kg of waste, which she described as her personal best record this year.
“Today I collected over 10kg of rubbish — my record for the year. I have been participating in this programme for nine years. InsyaAllah (God willing), we will continue in the years ahead.
“Today we picked up a lot of cigarette butts, tissues, water containers, plastics, and more. From the records I saw, one group collected around 100kg,” said Her Highness.

Meanwhile, Hasry said over 500kg of rubbish was collected at Pantai Morib by 10 groups of volunteers involved in the programme.
The annual event, held since 2017, also involved several other agencies to support beach cleanliness as well as Selangor’s initiative to plant 11 million trees.
“We had 10 volunteer groups, with the top collectors gathering as much as 110kg. Altogether, we collected over 500kg of waste today,” he said.
International Coastal Cleanup Day is an initiative by the non-governmental organisation Ocean Conservancy, celebrated every September.
This month, volunteers worldwide are inspiring change in the fight against marine debris pollution, while working together with local communities to clean up waste.
