SHAH ALAM, Sept 19 — Following the success of Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang, the people of Sepang will soon benefit from a fully state-owned hospital.
This comes after the completion and handing over of a purpose-built healthcare facility in the southern district by Paragon Globe Bhd to Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the development of Selgate Specialist Hospital Sepang is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Selangor’s healthcare system and represents a continuation of the state’s journey in building the care economy.
"It began with a general medical clinic, which has now expanded to 11 clinics, two dental clinics, two pharmacies, one diagnostic laboratory, and a 24-hour call centre.
"Following the 224-bed Rawang hospital, the 121-bed Sepang hospital is now awaiting accreditation before the next project in Setia Alam," he said in a Facebook post after attending the handover ceremony yesterday.

In addition to treatment facilities, Amirudin said the state government is also focusing on public health through the Selangor Health Initiative (ISS), which emphasises screenings and mental health.
"Selangor is also the first state to develop a Care Economy Policy. In my speech, I emphasised the importance of care for all levels of society through age-friendly infrastructure.
"I want Selgate hospitals to be part of the community and the state’s public health framework, in line with the Malaysia Madani aspirations, while also creating professional job opportunities in the healthcare sector."
Amirudin expressed hope that this project would serve as a catalyst for positive change and elevate Selangor as a model state in terms of economy, well-being, and quality of life for its people.

State executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin, who was also present at the handover ceremony, described the Selgate Specialist Hospital Sepang development as another major milestone in Selangor's healthcare journey.
She said yesterday's event marks the expansion of Selgate's network of specialist hospitals in strengthening access to quality healthcare in Selangor, particularly in Sepang and surrounding districts.
"The initiative is a strategic step for Selgate in broadening the reach of modern, affordable, and people-friendly healthcare services, in line with the state government’s aspiration to ensure the well-being of the community is always safeguarded."
Also present yesterday were Selgate chief executive officer Datuk Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth and Paragon Globe executive chairman Datuk Seri Edwin Tan Pei Seng.
