SUBANG JAYA, Sept 15 — Selangor’s efforts to strengthen the semiconductor industry ecosystem continue to bear fruit, with the launch of the second integrated circuit (IC) design park in Cyberjaya scheduled for November.

State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the launch of the park, which will serve as a base for 12 companies in the high-technology sector.

“For the second park in Cyberjaya, we expect another 12 companies to join this industry to meet rising demand for semiconductors,” he said at the Kinrara Youth Festival 2025, here last night.

Ng said the state has drawn strong interest from local and foreign players, notably China, Australia, and France, indicating ongoing expansion in the sector.

“The state government is focused on building a more complete ecosystem for this industry, which will bring significant benefits to its players,” he said.

Ng added that the state administration is coordinating initiatives to connect IC design companies with data centre providers, aiming to enhance capabilities and expand collaborative opportunities.

Last year, Selangor signed memoranda of understanding with four major players, including UK-based ARM Ltd and the Shenzhen Semiconductor Industry Association, to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a semiconductor hub.

The collaboration also includes Phison Malaysia and SkyeChip, which will help develop the Selangor Hub in Puchong, a dedicated centre for IC design and semiconductor drivers.

The hub, to be managed by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) beginning June next year, is expected to generate up to RM1 billion in economic returns.

It is also set to create numerous high-skilled jobs, with salaries of up to RM7,000 per month, giving a strong boost to local talent development.
