Selangor Intelligent Parking: Final talks with MBPJ ongoing

PETALING JAYA, Aug 6 — The implementation of the Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) system in areas under the Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) jurisdiction is in the final phase of negotiations.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said several matters including revenue, profit-sharing and the deployment of enforcement personnel are being discussed.

“We agree with the decision by the state government and the state executive council that four local authorities implement the SIP. However, we need to iron out several matters before finalising the agreement.

“There are still a few matters involving profit and seconded enforcement personnel that are being finalised.

“We have also conducted engagement sessions with the state government, through Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) and state executive councillor for local government (Dato’ Ng Suee Lim),” he told a press conference at the launch of the Placemaker Week Asean 2025 here today.

The SIP was activated on August 1 under three local authorities — the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), and Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), while negotiations with MBPJ are still ongoing.

Ng previously said the SIP will be jointly managed by MBI subsidiary Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd, along with a concessionaire and local councils.

He said the SIP is aimed at improving the municipal parking system as a key pillar of Selangor’s smart city concept, in line with the Smart Selangor initiative.
