SHAH ALAM, June 17 — The international launch of the Selangor Aero Park (SAP) at the Paris Air Show is testament to the state’s commitment to progressing Malaysia’s aerospace sector, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said.
The event will also see the exchange of a letter of intent (LOI) between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, and the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (Naico).
Amirudin added that of the 11 Malaysian companies participating as exhibitors at the air show, five are from Selangor, underscoring the state’s strength in aerospace.
“As a key contributor to this sector in Malaysia, Selangor is demonstrating its commitment through the international launch of the Selangor Aero Park @ KLIA Aeropolis and the exchange of a LOI between MBI Selangor and Naico.
“I also had the opportunity to meet with the Defence Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, who attentively listened to the latest developments in Selangor’s aerospace industry,” he said in a post on social media last night.
Amirudin said this after the opening ceremony of the Malaysian Pavilion at the Paris Air Show 2025, which he called a significant milestone in the growth of Selangor’s aerospace industry.
“A strong and promising start to the first day of Paris Air Show 2025. God willing, the aerospace industry will continue to drive Selangor’s progress.”
Yesterday, Amirudin chaired the final preparatory meeting ahead of the air show, which ends Sunday.
During the meeting, delegates were briefed on the programme flow by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, before holding further discussions with Naico and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.
On June 5, Transport Minister Anthony Loke reportedly said the development of the SAP will boost Malaysia’s efforts to become a leading air cargo hub in Southeast Asia.
The SAP is an aspiration under the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 to generate an annual income of RM55.2 billion in the sector.
Spanning about 600 acres in KLIA Aeropolis, the SAP has a potential gross development value of RM2.3 billion.
