SHAH ALAM, June 23 — The development of Selangor Aero Park (SAP) is set to drive the Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss) as a new economic zone.
State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said the SAP project is expected to generate state revenue and boost the local socioeconomy through tax contributions and the creation of high-skilled job opportunities.
"The aero park has the potential to attract high-impact investments, and is set to be a major draw for aerospace, logistics and high-tech industry players.
"Its strategic location, which provides direct access to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), further enhances the infrastructure and mobility of Selangor's southern region," he told Media Selangor.
Ng added that the SAP is capable of improving Idriss' profile as a competent investment destination, thanks to its unique location and world-class facilities.
"Additionally, the proposed development of the Kita Selangor Rail Line will create a multimodal transportation system aligned with the needs of the aerospace, logistics and high-tech industries, which form the core of the SAP development.
"The SAP will also stimulate the growth of Selangor's managed industrial parks ecosystem, offering an investor-friendly business environment, complete with modern facilities to meet future industry demands," he said.
On June 5, Transport Minister Anthony Loke reportedly said the development of the SAP will boost Malaysia’s efforts to become a leading air cargo hub in Southeast Asia.
The SAP is an aspiration under the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 to generate an annual income of RM55.2 billion in the sector.
Spanning about 600 acres in KLIA Aeropolis, the SAP has a potential gross development value of RM2.3 billion and is expected to generate over 20,000 high-skilled job opportunities.
