OSAKA, May 7 — The Selangor Week Exhibition at the Malaysia Pavilion during Expo Osaka in Kansai, Japan has served as a platform to showcase the state’s strength as a key economic powerhouse of the nation.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the world expo offers a stage to demonstrate Selangor's resilience in facing economic challenges, as well as its adaptability to cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and smart city development.

“Selangor, as a major contributor to Malaysia’s economy, possesses the resilience needed to face strong regional competition, particularly in response to ongoing trade wars and reciprocal tariffs.

“In fact, Expo Osaka showcases the state’s resilience in addressing environmental issues and embracing green technologies.

“The state government is hosting forums, dialogues, and business matching sessions here with global industry players to reassure them that Malaysia is an ideal destination for conducting business,” he said during his visit to the expo yesterday.

Amirudin added that participating provides Selangor with opportunities to learn about technology management, trade, investment, and innovation from various countries.

“This world expo is not just about the Malaysia Pavilion. Countries including the Philippines and several European nations also participate, offering Selangor a valuable opportunity to learn and gain exposure.

"It is also a platform to introduce Selangor’s potential and capabilities further,” he said.

The Selangor Week exhibition, themed 'Building a Resilient Future', presents the state as a competitive state of the future — globally connected and driven by technology, culture, and the energy of its youth.

The programme highlights Selangor’s vision of future-readiness and global engagement, underpinned by innovation, cultural heritage, and youth empowerment.

Malaysia’s participation through the Pavilion, themed 'Weaving a Future in Harmony', forms part of a broader strategy to boost the nation’s global presence and economic partnerships.
