SHAH ALAM, April 23 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, Foundation, has allocated RM20,000 in early aid to around 100 families in Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh, who were affected by floods this morning.

MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said essential goods such as food, mattresses, pillows and blankets were distributed to victims, who have been evacuated to four temporary relief centres (PPS).

“It is estimated that every PPS is sheltering about 25 victims. This morning, most of their houses were inundated by water about a metre deep.

“The flood hasn’t receded and victims may have to remain at the PPS for a while. We will channel follow-up aid soon,” he told Media Selangor.

Azri said the foundation also distributed 150 lunch packs to Taman Seri Alam residents affected by a flash flood after the Hillpark catchment pool embankment burst around 5.30am.

“This third such incident has caused tens of homes to be flooded. To help residents with cleanup, we provided lunch in hope that this could alleviate their burdens,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar’s political secretary Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said the developer of the flooded neighbourhood has been ordered to immediately repair the embankment to prevent recurrences.

Saifuddin in an X post said strict action will be taken if the developer compromises residents’ safety and well-being.

“MBI Foundation is providing emergency aid. District officers and municipality presidents have also been asked to check on the residents,” he wrote.

This morning, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director for operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said several areas in the state, including Sungai Buloh, Petaling Jaya, and Subang Jaya, were flooded after continuous heavy rain.
