SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The proposed Kita Selangor Rail Line is set to bolster the state’s logistics sector, providing significant economic benefits along its route, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han.

Speaking at the State Legislative Assembly session today, he said the line, which aims to enhance connectivity and logistics capacity, will serve as a critical infrastructure project supporting Selangor in becoming a key logistics hub.

“The Kita Selangor Rail Line will not only improve transportation and logistics efficiency but will also bring good economic benefits to areas located along the network,” he said.

Ng was responding to Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S. Preakas’s supplementary question on Selangor’s effort to boost the logistics sector.

Earlier, the councillor shared current statistics on the state’s investments, with 2,132 projects worth RM90.21 billion approved between 2023 and June 2024. These projects are expected to generate 63,912 potential job opportunities.

In 2023 alone, the state approved 1,311 projects valued at RM55.24 billion. Meanwhile, 821 projects worth RM34.97 billion were approved in the first half of this year.

He added that Selangor has set an ambitious target of RM50 billion in total investments for 2024, comprising RM15 billion for the manufacturing sector and RM35 billion for the services sector.

During the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget on Friday (November 15), Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the proposed Kita Selangor Rail Line is set to extend beyond the state’s borders and into Negeri Sembilan, with spur lines connecting to key locations like the Westport and Klang.

The comprehensive feasibility study for the project is expected to conclude by January next year.

The 211km rail corridor will run from Sabak Bernam, pass through Sepang, and extend into Negeri Sembilan.

Strategic spur lines to major economic hubs including Westport, Klang, Putra Heights, and Unisel Bestari Jaya will significantly enhance regional connectivity.

He said the rail project will serve as a boost for physical and socioeconomic development in Selangor, creating job opportunities in sectors like hospitality, trade, and logistics.
