KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 — Around 4,000 homes in Hulu Langat that were severely damaged by the floods in December last year has been restored, while 17 others have been fully rebuilt.

Its district officer Dr Ani Ahmad said the projects were accomplished with assistance from the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) and Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT).

“Construction of new homes is for total loss cases and depending on the status of the land in question. For properties that were not severely hit, the relevant parties will disburse assistance of RM5,000 and below.

“We hope that the process of the post-flood programme would run smoothly to ensure the comfort of the residents. Moreover, every two weeks, we would call the agencies involved to update on the current status in the area (Hulu Langat),” he said, after an appreciation dinner for flood volunteers at the International Youth Club in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, last night.

ON February 3, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a total of 10,510 flood-battered homes in the state would be restored, and 44 others would be rebuilt.

He said the restoration and construction works would consider the severity of the damages, coordinated by state executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail.
