BESTARI JAYA, Jan 13 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) was quick on its feet to implement online learning sessions when higher education institutions in the country were forced to temporarily suspend physical classes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its president and vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Mohammad Redzuan Othman said Unisel was among the earliest varsities to conduct classes online involving all departments and faculties.

“Unisel’s learning system was not badly affected by the movement control order (MCO) in comparison to other learning institutions.

“Some of the programmes that were conducted include discourses like Quarantine Tea Talk, Bicara Budiman, and Kaunselor Chit Chat. We also carried out marketing efforts through the same channel,” Mohammad Redzuan said during the ceremony to hand over the letter of appointment to the Unisel chancellor and pro-chancellor yesterday.

The ceremony at Unisel’s Bestari Jaya campus here was also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Mohammad Redzuan added that the commitment shown by Unisel’s employees and support from the Selangor government had enabled the institution in moving forward.

“Although we had to face a difficult time and challenges, the institution was able to survive in the education field,” he said.
